From October 27 to 31, 2016, in Odessa, the German-Ukrainian Historical Commission, in cooperation with the National I.I. Mečnykov-University of Odesa organized a junior workshop for graduate students and advanced students. The
choice of the theme was based on the great political significance of
contrasting memories of the time of the Second World War for the
conflicts of the past years and the current political processes in the
Ukraine. The
aim of the workshop was to examine the role and changes of memory, while
at the same time opening up comparative perspectives with Germany. Last but not least, the town of Odessa has provided interesting insights into these questions. For a summary of the workshop (in German), click here
